At the end of 2017, LDE (a collaboration between University of Leiden, Delft University of Technology and
Erasmus University Rotterdam) will organize a winter school on optimization in ports and shipping networks.
The winter school will be hosted at Erasmus University Rotterdam from the 18 th to 22 nd of December.
The following (preliminary) topics will be discussed during the winter school:
– Models and optimization in container terminals
– Port logistics and synchromodality
– Optimization in liner shipping
– Blockchain technology
– Physical Internet
Furthermore, a visit to a container terminal in the Port of Rotterdam is to be anticipated. Finally, some of the
participants will get the opportunity to present (and discuss) their research. The topics will be made possible
by the universities that participate in the LDE collaboration and the University of Groningen.
The winter school is intended for PhD-students and talented master students, and has a limited capacity of
20 participants. There is no registration fee for the winter school.
Please send your CV (including grade list if you are a master student) and motivation letter before
November 15 to Judith Mulder (email@example.com) if you are interested in participating in the winter school.
If you would like to present your research during the winter school, also send an abstract of your research
describing the problem, methodology and results. Applicants will be informed at the latest December 1
whether they can participate in the winter school or not.
